12th Annual Russell Forest Run

Registration Now Open!

The 2021 Russell Forest Run is set for Saturday, February 27th! The 10K and 5K runs will still offer runners a chance to join us in person at Russell Crossroads, or you can run on your own virtually. See below for our Frequently Asked Questions.!  Over the past 11 years, the Russell Forest Run has donated nearly $90,000 to the Alexander City Schools Education Foundation. Come be a part, bring your running/walking friends for a very good cause – plus, in the end, it is fun!

Run with us Virtually!

For those who can’t join us in person, we are offering a virtual component! The Virtual Russell Forest Run is a "timed" run anywhere event. You will need to complete the full  5k or 10k distance during one activity, not multiple combined activities. Times will be accepted beginning Saturday (2/20/2021) through Saturday (2/27/2021). Times can be automatically updated using the RaceJoy phone app or manually entered on the results page.

Q: Do I have to be in a certain city/state to do this event?

A: Anyone can do VIRTUAL Russell Forest Run 10k and 5k wherever you are, on your time!  This is great way for families and friends to stay active together, even if you don't live close to each other.  However, if you are registered for in person Russell Forest Run 10k, you will need to toe the Start Line in Alexander City, AL

Q: Do I have to run or can I walk?

A: You can run, walk, runwalk ... as long as you are purposefully moving and logging miles, it counts.

Q: Do I have to complete all 6.2 miles at one time?

A: Yes, since this is a "timed" event, you will need to complete the full 10k during one activity ... not multiple combined activities.

Q: Do I have to put in my miles outside?

A: Preferably you will be able to go outside so you can use our Live GPS tracking app, RaceJoy ... but if you need to complete your miles inside (on a treadmill, at the gym, etc.) that will be possible with the alternate reporting option.

Q: How do I record my miles/time?

A: The easiest and best way will be to utilize the RaceJoy app ...  First download and set up the app from Google Play or the App Store, then you simply hit start on the app and it will register when you complete 6.2 miles.  But, if you are unable to carry your phone; will be in a location with poor cell service; or need to complete your miles inside or on a treadmill, then there will be alternate ways to report your time.  You can upload directly to the RunSignUp system.  Just go to the Results tab and choose "Submit Virtual Results".
